For many teens, prom night is the biggest night of their high school lives. There are so many things to think about—what to wear, who to ask, and how it’s all going to fit on a budget. Some things (like who’ll make their entrance in a pink Hummer limo or who’ll be elected prom queen and king) can’t be planned for, but for everything else, there’s The Prom Book: The Only Guide You’ll Ever Need (Zest Books, distributed by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, $16.99 paperback; 9781936976287). This new book, by Lauren Metz, with insider advice from a range of experts from the worlds of fashion, party organizing, makeup, and more, will help teens navigate all the budgeting, romance, and drama of prom, as well as show them that everything is possible with a little advance planning! The book even includes advice on figuring out dinner and after-prom plans, staying safe and sane, and deciding what to do with the prom dress post-prom.
For a chance to win a free copy of The Prom Book, simply email email@example.com with your preferred mailing address and briefly let us know about your ultimate “dream prom” or your fondest (or not!) prom memory. Five people will be chosen at random from entries received by midnight on March 12, and will be notified via email by March 16. Entrants will be added to the Zest Books enewsletter list for the latest news on Zest’s nonfiction teen reads and true stories.
As a bonus for librarians planning activities using The Prom Book, fill-in sheets from this guide can be accessed here for free. The Prom Book is available March 5 from national wholesalers.
